LIFE distributes school supplies in Sierra Leone (22/11/07)

LIFE for Relief and Development distributed clothes and school supplies to 273 orphans who attend the War Orphans Primary School and Orphanage in the town of Mile 91 in northern Sierra Leone. The school and orphanage are operated by LIFE.

The director of the school, Haja Miniatu J. Konneh commended community members who were gathered for their positive response to LIFE’s programs in Mile 91. She also offered abundant prayers for the donors who continue to support this project, and encouraged the children to make good use of their new gifts.

Madam Hassanatu Moriba, a representative of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs outlined the challenges that Sierra Leone’s government face regarding the welfare of children.

She commended LIFE for supporting vulnerable children who lost one or both parents to the civil war that recently ended after 10 years.

The children for their part happily received their gifts and took turns posing for photographs, which brought a sense of happiness to all those in attendance.
