Irrigation channel to produce 400 litres of water per second (15/11/07)


The rehabilitation of the channel and the installing of a new irrigation system at the Medium Agrarian Institute of Tchivinguiro (IMAT) will enable the production of 400 litres of water per second and ease farming activities.

		This was affirmed by the director of IMAT, Pedro Ebo, in the light of the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Education Ministry and the United Methodist University of Africa that foresees the reinforcement of the institutional capacity of the school. According to Pedro Ebo, the 3,000-metre channel currently produces 180 litres per second, a much reduced amount to meet the needs of the institution.
The project will allow the consolidation of technical, theoretical and practical knowledge of students, and to increase the quality of cadres there trained as well as benefit the population. Although it was rehabilitated in 2000, Pedro Ebo said that structures linked to agrarian activities were not part of the process. Included in the reform of the technical-professional education system, IMAT enrolled in this academic year 510 students distributed into four classrooms.
