Peasants get over 60 tonnes of fertilizers (06/11/07)

 

Sixty nine tonnes of assorted fertilisers were recently distributed to 1,380 farmers and 57 associations in Caála district, 23 kilometres to the west of Huambo city.

 
 
The consignment which comprises of manure 12-24-12, ammonium 17-17-17, were distributed to local peasants by the National Peasants Union of Angola (UNACA) of the central Huambo province in partnership with the Agrarian Development Institute (IDA), and, the process still underway, will also benefit other farmers.

The institution is also planning to deliver farming tools like hoes, cutlass, axes, files and several agricultural seeds.

According to the local UNACA chairperson, Judith Nguinda, the measure aims at boosting production and productivity, as well as obtaining good results in the current 2007/2008 agricultural campaign.
