Minister of Rural Housing and Social Amenities Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, his deputy Cde Joel Biggie Matiza and Minister of Science and Technology Development Dr Olivia Muchena accompanied the Chinese delegation. At Goromonzi High School, Dr Muchena explained to the delegation that Mashonaland East was largely an agricultural province where different types of crops were grown as well as animal husbandry.
"The province is also home of the granite rock which is used mainly for construction purposes," she said.
She said Goromonzi High School was an institution rich in the history of Zimbabwe as most present day leaders in the country went through the school.
She said the Ministry of Rural Housing and Social Amenities was important in the country because it was going to speed up construction projects in the rural areas, where about 70 percent of Zimbabweans live.
At Bainshope Farm, Mr Tapfumaneyi said that despite being a small scale farmer, he was this year expecting to harvest 16 tonnes of maize out of which he would keep a tonne for his family's while the remainder would be sold to the Grain Marketing Board.
Cde Mnangagwa praised Mr Tapfumaneyi for fully utilising his land despite the challenges of the drought and the shortage of inputs.
"I want to thank you and your family for fully utilising the land despite the challenges. That is going to encourage other new farmers in this area to work hard and produce food," he said.
The 13-member Chinese delegation is composed of technocrats who include surveyors and engineers.
Mr Liu and Cde Mnangagwa on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of China and Zimbabwe to co-operate in the construction of schools, houses and bridges.
