"They (ODM-K) have not held presidential nominations. We are not worried about their pace because we are also getting ready," he said at the party's headquarters in Hurlingham, Nairobi.
Last week, ODM-K agreed on the system they will use to pick their presidential candidate from a group of eight hopefuls.
The party is now working on a system to pick delegates for the exercise and the date for the nominations.
Mr Tarus said Narc-K has a presidential candidate - Mr Kibaki.
He was accompanied by assistant ministers Mwangi Kiunjuri, Danson Mungatana, Raphael Muriungi, Kalembe Ndile, Jayne Kihara, Gacara Muchiri, Joshua Toro and MPs Francius Kagwima and Nderitu Gachagua.
The board will supervise and also ensure the party's constitution is followed during elections, which will begin on February 21.
It comprises East African Legislative Assembly member Otieno Karani (Nyanza), former member of the Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK), Mr Njiru M'Thambu (Eastern), Prof Ahmed Musalam (Coast), Mrs Jayne Kiano (Nairobi), Mr Nixon Butiya (Western), Ms Fatuma Mohammed (North Eastern), Ms Milka Ndirangu (Central), Mr Patrick Rotich (Rift Valley) and Mr Padeos Monovi (youth).
