The Portege tablet personal computer laptop, will enable users to connect to email, Internet and data networks without using a separate personal computer card.

Toshiba East Africa distributor Aftech Kenya says business operations are changing, giving rise to the need to move around with company information. "Today's business is customer-focused, meaning when you go to see a client, you need to go with your laptop with all information you may need without going back to the office to make reference," Aftech regional manager, Livingstone Indetie, said during the launch at Holiday Inn, Nairobi.

Business professionals need connectivity and email on the go, but up to now, they haven't been able to stay connected easily," said Toshiba regional manager for Middle East and Africa, Mr Santosh Varghese.

"With widespread availability of 3G (third generation technology) networks and compatible devices, we are now entering the next stage of mobile working.

Toshiba also launched the new Tecra A8 series in the East African market. The company said it is the most resilient notebooks to enter the market. The new professional notebook personal computer features a durable chassis with a view of maximising mobility.
