Two million Kenyans to benefit from US forces (13/12/06)

 

Some two million Kenyans are to benefit from an on-going civic military operation jointly undertaken by the Kenyan army and US forces. Some 39 projects are being implemented in the arid and semi-arid areas as well as the coastal areas and the Rift Valley Province.

 
 
The amount of money expended in the projects has not been divulged by sources in government said it runs in millions of Kenyan shillings.

The projects cover health, education, water and power through installation of a wind mill. Government spokesman, Dr. Alfred Mutua, told reporters in Nairobi that the projects include the 'rehabilitation of public institutions, drilling of boreholes, construction and distilling of dams, provision of services and grading of roads.'

The areas benefiting include Baringo, Garissa, West Pokot, Makueni and Kajiado, districts. All these areas fall within the arid and semi-arid corridor.
