Health Minister inaugurates National Polio Campaign (02/12/06) |

The third national campaign of vaccination against poliomyelitis and administration of vitamin "A" will be officially opened by Angolan Health minister, Sebastião Veloso, in Lubango, southern Huila province. |

The information is contained in a note from the National Health Department that reached Angop Friday, stating that the minister will be accompanied at the ceremony by representatives of the World Health Organisation (WHO), UNICEF, and other NGOs operating in the sector.
Meanwhile, the head of epidemiological surveillance, Barnabe Lemos, said Huila is expected to vaccinate about 475,646 children, while another 428.078 will take vitamin "A", with the participation of 1,063 activists.

To this round, according to the source, the provincial department has made available 998,000 dozes (570,000 of polio vaccines and 428,000 of vitamin "A").
In the two previous rounds, Huila vaccinated against poliomyelitis a total of 900,000 children.
