Eritrea: Potable water supply project being implemented in Mahmime (11/08/08)

 

A potable water supply project is being implemented in Mahmime semi-urban center, Karura sub-zone, in a bid to alleviate a drinking water problem in the area.

 
 
The project includes installation of a 7-km long water pipeline, construction of a pond with a capacity of holding 50 cubic meters and 2 water distribution stations, as well as solar-energy generating device.

Reports also indicated that there are plans to renovate the wells in Karura, Alakieb, Ashagen and Dige. A pond has been constructed in Agrae and the installation of water pipelines is underway. The inhabitants of the localities used to drink water that was not up to standard.
