Humanitarian Development Program - Official Steering Committee

To extend the reach of the established network and to ensure that its summits have the highest possible level of representation from all relevant areas, the Humanitarian Development Program has established a Steering Committee to provide insight and expertise on overall strategic direction and to ensure the strongest possible focus to achieve maximum benefit for all those involved.

The Humanitarian Development Program has identified its core objectives as being to bring to the table those who wish to invest in developing world projects – be they corporate investors or global foundations – but are disillusioned by the lack of tangible results and those who have projects for implementation but lack the necessary funding and investor relations.

The committee will be a focal network point for th regular summits, bringing together the key individuals from all sides to ensure that HDP achieves its stated objectives.

The Steering Committee consists of key figures from a number of non-governmental organisations, inter-governmental organisations, UN agencies and donor foundations.

The Committee currently includes the following members:

David Dickie, AdvanceAid (Chair)

Simon Lucas, AdvanceAid

George Fenton, World Vision/Inter-Agency Working Group on Disaster Preparedness (IAWG)

Dane Fredenburg, Catholic Relief Services, Inter-Agency Working Group on Disaster Preparedness (IAWG)

Rob McConnell, Fleet Forum

Dr Henry Chasia, E-Africa Commission, New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD)

Dr Cosmas Zavazava, International Telecommunications Union (ITU)

Bruce McKerrow, United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS)

Betty Maina, Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM)

Doug Brooks, International Peace Operations Association (IPOA)

Allan Ragi, Kenya AIDS NGOs Consortium (KANCO)

Martin Jarrold, Global VSAT Forum (GVF)

The Committee has established a continuous dialogue through regular meetings, conference calls and ongoing communications, with members being kept informed as to the latest developments in the initiative.

Each Committee member has a major role to play in conveying their own vision of the HDP’s aims and objectives in order to achieve maximum benefit for their relevant community.

The high level of the committee members further enhances the credibility of the Humanitarian Development Program, the participating members having committed to serving in the best interests of the overriding principles behind the Humanitarian Development Program and in turn the interests of their own organisations and the developing world.
